Welcome to our little slice of internet! The place where I love documenting, photographing, story-telling…basically just sharing our wonderful life!
A little bit about us. | We met at work in 2006. We started dating in 2007. Adopted Oliver, our awesome poodle mix in 2010. Bought our first sailboat in 2013, without any real sailing experience, and quit our jobs in early 2014 to set sail in the adventure of a lifetime! We spent 57 weeks cruising the Bahamas + Caribbean…where we even got engaged!!!…but now we are back home in beautiful Naples, Florida ready to plan a wedding. One chapter of our grand adventure at life may have ended, but there are plenty of exciting ones about to begin! We’d love for you to stick around as we share bits and pieces of our little world.
Jereme | Your typical engineer. Loves projects. Loves DIY. Ice cream aficionado. Would eat sandwiches at every meal if possible. Pretty much lives in Columbia fishing shirts and flipflops. You get the picture. The boring stuff…Born in Canada (eh?!), moved to Ohio in elementary school. Middle child. Jereme attended Ohio University (go bobcats) and earned a Bachelors in Civil Engineering. Moved to Naples, Florida after graduating college. He’s now a licensed professional engineer (PE) and project management professional (PMP). And most recently, became a United States citizen in 2012. Woot woot!
Kim | Photographer (kimberlyjoyphoto.com). foodie. wannabe farmer. cheese lover. animal adoption advocate. Beyond photography, I’m also madly in love with food. I haven’t met a cheese I don’t like…still cannot find a decent garlic knot in Naples to save my life…could eat hush puppies everyday…LOVE anything homemade…and have an unnatural obsession with diet coke (and Burt’s Bees lip balm). Some of my favorite things in this world are my boys Jereme and Oliver, my fun-loving nieces and nephews, farmhouse everything, biking to the beach, the smell of clean sheets, vacuumming, spending the day in pajamas, and antiquing/exploring. The boring stuff…Born and raised in sunny South Florida. The youngest of 3 sisters. Attended the University of Florida (go gators) and earned a Bachelors in Business Administration and a Masters in Marketing. For the past few years, I’ve balanced a day job as Director of Brand Management, owned/operated my photography biz, and volunteered weekly taking photos at the Humane Society Naples.
Oliver | This dog is da bomb dot com. We don’t know much of his back story since we adopted this lovable, furry face in July 2010, but what we do know for sure is that he is one awesome poodle mix. Loves…(in no particular order) treats, barking at the tv when any animal appears on screen, other dogs (+ people), long walks, and cuddling. Hates…taking his monthly flea/tick medication, going to the groomers, and thunder/fireworks/loud booms. We have an entire page dedicated to his awesome (former boat dog) lifestyle. Check it out here.

We look forward to your new adventures. Are you sailing full time? Our boat is on the w-coast. In Jan/14 we’ll be in Naples to visit old friends, love the area.
Our best
Hi Rob + Sophia! We are not yet full-time, but just put in our notice at work last week. We plan to start cruising full time come January, as we head south to the Keys, then Bahamas, then Caribbean. 🙂 Let us know if you are ever over by the Naples City Dock. -Kim

love your blog. I spent 8 years reading every sailing magazine and book I could get my hands on while I was completing my college training. When I moved to Florida I took many sailing courses and worked my way up from a dingy to an eventual 32′ sloop. But, due to family obligations and circumstances that arose, was never able to do more than weekend trips and one sail to Bimini. I have read and lived vicariously through each blog you have posted and wanted to thank you for sharing your experience. GO GATORS van Alva, Fl

Hi, I just stumbled across your blog by searching for “sailing blogs” 🙂 I’m sitting in an office right now with no windows (procrastinating of course) and can’t wait to start reading your blog when I get home!! My husband and I talk about getting a boat ALL the time. We go to the Cleveland Boat Show every year just daydreaming about the day we can do what you guys are doing. I think doing something like this is just plain awesome. Good for you! Your dog is adorable and you guys seem like you guys made a good decision!

I read a book last year about a couple from Toronto that quit their jobs and sailed to the Caribbean and back. I thoroughly loved the book and experiencing the Caribbean through someone else’s eyes as I am from the Caribbean. Now that I have found this blog I am thoroughly looking forward to catching up and carrying on with you on your journey.
